See Japan’s ancient sport of sumo up close and in person at one of the three Tokyo tournaments each year – in January, May, and September, or perhaps down in Osaka (March) or Nagoya (July) which is only a short ride from the capital in the famed bullet train. I have been covering sumo for over a decade and have appeared on television and radio stations across the globe and am a regular go-to man for the media when looking for comments on sumo.
And another sumo option:
Very few ever get to see a real sumo tournament. Fewer see these men of strength practicing in their stables in the morning before tournaments. You can do both, but if there is not a tournament at the time of your trip, you can just come along and see the practice in the Ryogoku area of Tokyo with me, a professional sumo writer.
For: Anyone interested in Japanese culture and/or sports!
A guided experience. Please note that tickets to tournaments are not included. Access to the morning practice requires no tickets
