with Chantelle D.

Style: Educational, Offbeat, Wild

Looking for something alternative to do in the big city? Join me for a tour of the urban wetlands! We will start with a trip to the botanical gardens, followed by a visit to nearby wetlands. Learn how to locate and identify local bird species, as well as how to capture them on camera. Bring your own camera or borrow one of mine!

During this trip you will
• visit the botanical gardens & various urban wetlands
• get an introduction to Colombia's diverse ecosystems
• learn how to locate & identify local water fowl
• discover tips & tricks for getting the right shot
• learn the basics of good nature photography, including composition, lighting, camera settings & more

If you have a point and shoot camera I will be happy to show you how to get professional looking shots using your own camera, but if you would like to have the opportunity to shoot with a digital SLR, I will bring an extra one along (lenses included) for you to use.

Includes: private transport & driver, personal guide (aka me), entrance fee to the botanical gardens, loan of digital SLR camera & 200/300mm lens (1 per group to share), binoculars, bird guides

Does not include: price of lunch & snacks

Please note that while I do consider the chosen locations to be safe (I have never heard of or experienced personal safety issues in these locations), I will not be held responsible for any situations that may arise with regards to safety. You are solely responsible for the equipment you choose to bring, as well as for your personal being.

Your Insider

I was born in South Africa, studied in the US and now I live in Bogotá, Colombia, where I own and operate a small guesthouse and manage an NGO that aims to connect volunteers with communities throughout the region. My passion for Colombia and its people began during the time I lived in Houston - salsa dancing, eating empanadas with friends and attending some of the best Colombian festivals, parties & cultural events the city had to offer. After finishing my studies in both hospitality & international development, I decided to move to Colombia with my fiancé to start a new life. So here I am. Living in Bogotá's historic district, taking every opportunity available to travel around and explore more of this beautiful country. I am also a photographer, which is why I specialize in photography tours of the region surrounding Bogotá. From iphones to point and shoots and digital SLRs, I can show you how to take great pictures with your own camera! Full profile Leave a Review
