Eat your way through East London's markets!
London's street food scene has exploded into life. Five years ago, you'd be lucky to find more than soggy burgers and chewy bacon baps. Today, London's pioneering street food vendors are taking their cues from New York, Los Angeles and Singapore - and some of the finest food in the city can be found in the markets of East London.
On this tour we'll eat Cockney fare, Bangladeshi snacks, Jewish food, Vietnamese treats, London's best burgers, some very posh nibbles - and we'll stop for amazing coffee to fuel the journey. The itinerary may vary, but there will be at least seven food stops, and you won't go home hungry. Promise.
As well as talking about food, we'll talk about the East End's history and its shopping, galleries, street art, music scene and politics.
I'm a journalist and food writer, and I've written about (and eaten) street food around the world. I recently wrote a cover story on London's street food scene for EasyJet's inflight magazine and I have plenty of insider tips on where to go and eat and drink in London I'd love to share with you.
For: Anybody who likes to eat!
Lots and lots of great food and a coffee.
I'm away April 13-29.

I joined this tour last weekend as a test-run participant, as Matthew was preparing for this tour in early March. Although he told me he was not well-prepared yet, and although the weather was not in its best condition, I was very impressed by his knowledge and passion for street food and East London area. I stayed in London for two months in the past and visited the city quite a few times but still the whole thing he introduced me was very new and unique. I would definately recommend this tour for anyone interested in street food and adventurous enough for trying out different and exotic cuisine. One thing is that depending on the situation on that day you might not b able to have what u wanted, but this could be compensated by his description of the area and information on the weekend markets there. Overall, I had such a good time and would love to recommend it to anyone I know visiting London.
