Southwark is reputed to be one of the oldest district in London and it has witnessed prime events in the last 2000 years. The area was very much associated with sailors, merchants, saints, pirates and of course …prisons theatres and old inns but also with great artists such as Dickens and Shakespeare, John Keats.

On our walk we will visit the earliest gothic church, the Southwark Cathedral and the Borough market, and then walk through the ancient streets and see the site of the first Old Operating Theatre, the Old Tabard Inn from where the Canterbury Pilgrimage took off, John Harvard’ s house where he lived before heading to the United States, and the old prisons, the vessel, the theatres ect.
