Climbing Colorado's 14'ers has become a favorite activity of locals as well as climbers from all over North America. In fact, more than half a million people attempt at least one of Colorado's 54 14'ers per year. Today you will be attempting 2!
Grays Peak is 14270 feet tall.
Torreys Peak is 14267 feet tall.
Rating: Moderate
Elevation Gain: 3600 ft
Roundtrip Distance: 9 Miles
Roundtrip Time: 8 Hours (4 up, 2 over, 2 down)
Itinerary:
Meet at pickup location at 5 in the morning. (TBD, I can always come pick you up if you are in the Denver Metro Area)
Drive out to the trailhead for Longs Peak, arrive at 7 and begin the trek.
Summit Greys Peak at 11.
Sign the Colorado Mountain Club Register, enjoy a light-lunch, a champagne toast and a photo opportunity while feasting your eyes on the magnificent views of the Rocky Mountain Front Range.
Start trek to Torreys Peak at noon.
Summit Torreys Peak at 2.
Sign the Colorado Mountain Club Register, enjoy a snack and maybe another toast if there is Champagne left over, another photo opportunity and splendid views.
Start Decent at 2:30 and arrive back at the vehicle at 4:30.
Stop in Idaho Springs on the way back to the city for a meal and pint at Tommy Knockers Brewery.
Arrive back in Denver around 7pm.
