Drop all assumptions and prepare for an adventure!
Start with an insight into the city's colonial heritage at the Elephant House, Durban's oldest standing home. Head out the to Bhambayi area to walk on the original wooden floors of the now revamped Mahatma Gandhi museum. Pay your respects to the eminent Dr. John Dube at Ohlange High School, the place where Nelson Mandela cast his vote his South Africa's long awaited first democratic elections.
Cross into the Mzinyathi area and learn about the spiritual significance of its namesake waterfall. Knock back quarts of beer with locals outside a "spaza shop" before sharing a "shisanyama" lunch at our favourite tavern. Engage with vendors outside KwaMashu station and learn about their wares. End the trip with a visit to a family home in K Section, leaving with a personal insight into township life.
