From Treasure Island to Captain Jack Sparrow, piracy has long held the imagination for adults and children alike. So let's take a stroll along the Thames and take in the gruesome history and undercover stories of corruption and political intrigue as well as fabulous greed. Francis Drake, patriot or pirate? You decide. We'll see his Golden Hind ship in all it's glory and see some of the skeletons and cages of those pirates unlucky enough to spend a stint in Clink prison. Those with the stomach can jump on the tube and whiz to Wapping to visit Execution Dock. The Captain Kidd pub overlooks the exact site where the Pirates where read their last rites before being hung by the neck until dead. Visit England's patriotic pirate Francis Drake's ship the Golden Hind. Discover the historic background to the rise of mercantile England's rise and the golden years of piracy. Stroll past Clink Prison (The prison that gave it's name to all others) which was used to hold, torture and execute all and sundry from 1144 -1780.
We'll stroll along past the mighty Belfast battle cruiser and see the spikes where pirates, enemies of the crown and the unfortunate heads where held for all to see.
