Is there anything more inspiring than the shore of the Greatest of Great Lakes - the largest by area of all the lakes in the world. The cool breezes that come off the lake are refreshing in any season, but in Spring, Summer, and Fall they have a special feeling and a walk along the boardwalks and sand dunes to Leif Erickson Park is a wonderful way to experience the city and the lake. Led by the only couple to ever walk the shores around the entire lake you will see birds, cityscapes, plants, ships and bridges. Beginning at the end of Water Street off 21st avenue and walk into the harbor area. The hike will allow you to capture the spirit of Duluth and its history as the most inland of all Salt Water Ports (yes it is fresh water, but the salties from around the world come in under the famous lift bridge. A car shuttle will allow the walk to be a one way experience. The walk will be 2 - 4 miles determined by the group interest and desires.
