My name is Samart, you can call me Joe. I was born in northern Thailand, in a mountain town of Mae Hong Son. For eight years, I was a Buddhist monk, then I left the monastery to study tourism in Chiang Mai.
After graduating, I got a job as a tourist guide for a company in Bangkok and worked with them for several years, but I wanted to move back north, and I returned to Chiang Mai in 2010.
Since then I have been showing travelers around the northern Thailand and I have built Spicy Villa bungalows in the mountains of Mae Win.
I believe in sustainable travel that helps local communities and I like to organize trips that are authentic and teach travelers about local culture.
