Thank you, Sally, for giving me a personal and fascinating tour of your "Real" Rome! Rather than following the well-beaten path of the tourists, you showed me the quaint little piazza del Pace. We sat there and had a cappuccino, then, we wandered, slowly through the meandering small streets and bought breaded olives, deliciouso, and then this incredible prosciutto like sandwich, which was so fresh. After that, we walked to the Pantheon, and Sally introduced me to an Aperol Spritz, my favorite drink now. We also walked through TreSTAYvere neighborhood (now I know how to pronounce it, thanks for that) and back to the Piaza di Navona. Sally was a delight, telling me all about her Italian experiences and how they have shaped her life. I had a perfect Roman day, felt like I had been there for as long as Sally, and would recommend her non-tourist tour to my closest friends. Brava!!!

I only had one full day to explore Rome so my friend from home linked me up with Sally. I spent the entire day with Sally and her cousin, Anne, and the three of us had a fabulous time walking around Rome hopping from touring sites to sampling Italian food and drink :) Needless to say, I made some instant-friends as people thought we were old college friends by the end of the night--they were shocked to find out I had just met the two girls earlier in the day! Sally gave me the most authentic Rome tour and although I did not originally plan to return to Italy right away--her love for this country was so infectious I am definitely coming back ASAP! I have definitely learned on this trip that I most enjoy a new place when I am with a local showing me around. Of course, I enjoy absorbing the "big sites" but I feel more drawn to a place when I get the person's own "Rome" in this case. Sally pointed out her likes and dislikes, taught me how to talk with my hands as Italians do, brought me to her favorite Church, let me taste the true genuine "Roman" dishes, and shared her vast knowledge of the history you see at every corner of this city. Anyone who is headed to Italy contact her as she provides her genuine "Slice of Italy" --- she offers the most affordable prices for the best experience! She also shares tours of Florence, Venice, and other parts of the country (Which, of course, I will return to see with her).

We had a great time with Sally. We got to see all of the major sites of Rome and learned some history. But the best part was the food and wine! We stopped for pizza, bruschetta, and wine and I tried some foods that otherwise I would never have thought to try. Thanks Sally!
