We joined Kurt and a few other families with school-aged kids on this hike on a recent Sunday. It was hands-down the most beautiful one we've ever been on, and many of us have lived in the Bay Area 15+ years. The scenery was breathtaking, and for the most part we felt like we had the entire trail to ourselves, which made it even more wonderful. The distance was perfect for kids and the terrain wasn't strenuous (certainly a benefit of a group hike: even if it was, we didn't feel it). The trip was also educational - we learned much more about the area and tule elk which we saw in different spots. Instead of watching the kids poke at animal droppings with sticks, the other lovely guide, Tom, showed them how to identify them - he had a "animal poop book" in his backpack! We all tremendously enjoyed this coastal hike, and no child whined (my younger one typically does it incessantly on every hike). There's no better way to spend a day off. I whole-heartedly recommend it to locals and out-of-town visitors.
