I was born in Boston, MA and raised in southern California. I have been a traveler all her life. After college, I moved to Australia and then travelled through Europe. I have lived in SF, LA, DC and NY, among other places. I used to play music with several bands in New York and released 3 CDs. I then took up sailing with tall ships and cruised the East Coast and crossed the Atlantic Ocean and Panama Canal.
I first came to Guatemala in 2007 to study Spanish in Antigua and stumbled upon a sleepy fishing village on the coast called Hawaii. I ended up staying there for three years and now call the beach my home. I started there as a volunteer in sea turtle conservation and wound up organizing two sea turtle festivals, including a surf tournament. I currently work in ecotourism up in Southeast Alaska for the summers and organize tours in Guatemala in the winters.
