History
Buenos Aires went through 2 foundations. Ironically, first conquistador (Pedro de Mendoza) who arrived in 1536, was looking for the threatment from sífilis according to some rumors. His mission failed due to endless attacks from the first inhabitants (Querandí), so the city Santa María de los Buenos Ayres was re-founded again 47 years later by Juan de Garay. Since then the city has hosted a big number of immigrants, who first occupied the southern parts of the city like San Telmo and La Boca, and later expanded into northern parts like Belgrano and Nuñez.
Politics & Economy
Current president is Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, a widow of the former president Néstor Kirchner. She won the elections with 54% of the votes and causes completely different types of reactions from her citizens: they either support her or hate and oppose in all ways and forms.
When in Buenos Aires, take a taxi and you will have the best lecture ever from one conversation with a taxi driver. Most people here know what is going on in the country and discuss it passionately. Voting is obligatory.
