Come explore some of Otago's hidden gems, only accessed by 4wd truck. I will take you either up one of the highest roads in NZ explore a high country river valley or through a steep canyon that winds its way up into ancient gold mining towns.
This is a true kiwi off-road adventure, starting with me picking you up mid morning and giving you a quick overview of our day on the way to the destination. We will make our way into canyons or up mountains to take in the spectacular views and get the heart beating with some narrow, steep roads following up and down valleys.
We will make our way up the canyon and come across and historic bridge crossing the water, this is sure to get you on the edge as we traverse it slowly in the truck high above the swift river.
We then stop for a hot kiwi lunch at a historic school house, built back in the 1800's for the local gold mining families, there are also several other historic sights to explore including houses, cemetery an the ruins of an old hotel.
This trip includes very narrow roads with steep drop offs and is not for the faint hearted, however I have driven this many times and safety is my top priority. It is a great trip for anyone looking to explore beyond the commercial sector of queesntown-lakes and get a real feel for the kiwi lifestyle, new and old.
