'Tour' pronounced phonetically in French means tower. But as we are not in France, most tours lack this assumption of verticality. NOT THIS ONE > Ascending from a well at the slumps of an underground river, we gingerly cantor, swooping-up to a Futurist inspired aerial walkway.
Rather than a solid tower, this walk is a discussion of ideas that helped formed the passage architectonically; a porous, ephemeral structure of its own, it challenges the foundations of the buildings, whilst commending their less shaky engineers.
"This new tour was designed to challenge the early anthropological thinking which influenced Modernist buildings along the route. It is an often chokingly funny, critical interpretation of history, relevant to a tourism industry in the process of developing ethical awareness." Arriving in London in the winter of 2004, Mia assisted several artists and worked as an illustrator for a musical charity before studying at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She has hosted a variety of poetically curated events and classes including life drawing at some of Britain's most celebrated historical homes and concept based workshops with the Kurdish migrant community.
