On the Author's Trail in Concord, MA

with Bob K.

Nineteenth century Concord, MA was one of the main centers for individual thinkers and authors in this country. Among those of a more philosophical bent were Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau and Bronson Alcott. The primary authors of fiction and poetry in Concord were Nathaniel and Sophia Hawthorne and Louisa May Alcott.

On this tour we'll visit the places where these folks who were the primary shapers of early American thinking and writing lived, worked and played.

I'm happily married for many years. I am the father of two and the grandfather of three. I retired about two years ago from positions as a special education teacher's assistant and as a Court Investigator for the State of Massachusetts. I grew up in the Boston area and have always had a strong interest not only in local history, but history in general. This interest led me into researching my genealogy and I've been working on that for almost 30 years. My other interests include reading, photography and old television shows.
