East London Street Food Tour

with June

Welcome to Whitechapel, the gateway to the East End. On the edge of the biggest financial centre in the world, you'll find the lingering ghosts of Dickensian London. Of course, much has changed since the days of Oliver Twist, Jack the Ripper and the Elephant Man, but one thing remains the same - a Cockney lad on a street corner selling tubs of jellied eels (yes, slippery fishy things boiled in jelly) to a colorful cast of regular customers. It's just the first stop of many on this tasty tour of London's wild east.

London's street food scene has exploded into life. On this tour we'll eat Cockney fare, Bangladeshi snacks, Jewish food, Vietnamese treats, London's best burgers and some posh nibbles. The itinerary may vary, but there will be at least seven food stops, and you won't go home hungry. That's a guarantee.

It's not all gluttony - we'll talk about the East End's unique social and political history, its street art, music scene, bookshops and galleries.
