View Vegas differently...from a mountain! Each year, over 30 million people come to this neon oasis to enjoy 5-star resorts, world-class dining, and unmatched nightlife. What few realize is that Las Vegas is actually a mecca for outdoor adventure as it is within 30 minutes of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, 30 minutes from Lake Mead National Recreation Area, 45 minutes from the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (Mt. Charleston), 60 minutes from Valley of Fire State Park, and within 8 hours of 13 National Parks.
Spend a morning escaping the Strip for a little hiking adventure in the beautiful southwest!
Your day begins with a private transfer from your hotel on the Strip to either Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area or the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. Red Rock offers a unique geology, with bright red sandstone that contrasts with the surrounding limestone. Here you will find many fun, rocky trails that are great for scrambling. The Spring Mountains are more of a traditional "mountainous setting" with towering ponderosa pine trees, wildflowers, migrating birds, and cooler temperatures (generally 20-30 degrees cooler than Las Vegas).
Hikes will be relatively short (2-3 miles) and will provide incredible views with just the "right amount of challenge."
My name is Justin Ebert, I grew up in Iowa City, and received my degree in 2008 from the University of Iowa in Geography. For the past 3 years I have been living in "Sin City" doing the COMPLETE opposite of most people think I would do in this town...I have worked for the National Park Service and USDA Forest Service as a volunteer coordinator and have become very familiar with local trails. Having grown up in a mountaineering family (my parents operated an adventure hiking/mountaineering company called the Iowa Mountaineers that was founded by my grandparents), hiking trips have been a big part of my life. For the past 5 years, I have been involved in developing Alpenglow Adventures, an adaptive hiking program for individuals with disabilities. We have completed adaptive hiking trips to Patagonia, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and many other incredible National Parks in the USA. Full profile ⋅ Leave a Review
