San Diego, California

Historic San Diego

with Maria R.

You wouldn't know it from the high skyline, but San Diego was once a small border town dotted with farms, and boasts one of the oldest Churches in California. It was also one of California's first European settlements, and was a part of Spain, Mexico, and now, the United States. Explore San Diego's historic districts, including Old Town, the Gaslamp Quarter, the peaceful Mission San Diego de Alcala, the stately Golden Hill District, and much more! Let me know your preference (time period? architecture?) beforehand, and I will gladly tailor this experience for you!

This tour beings at the historic Santa Fe Depot train station and continues into the heart of "new town," or downtown (including the Gaslamp Quarter), followed by Old Town, the Presidio, and the Mission San Diego de Alcala.

Santa Fe Station, the Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town, the Presidio, the Mission

Optional:
Balboa Park: many of San Diego's museums, including the San Diego Museum of Art, the Timken Gallery, Natural History Museum, etc; historic World's Fair buildings; the San Diego Zoo

Golden Hill: Stately mansions (Victorian and Craftsman) that have remained untouched due to lack of development

Banker's Hill/Hillcrest: Some of the most architecturally significant homes in the area; Great dining choices

Excluding the Mission/Presidio reduces the tour by 1.5 hours; choose one of the other sights under "optional."
