Hong Kong

Hexagonal Columns, Caves and Arches

with Wouter V.

Style: Educational, Offbeat

A combination of hike and boat tour, showing off some of the best parts of the volcanic rock region of the Hong Kong Global Geopark of China.

The hike takes us to the magnificent hexagonal columns, a sea cave, and inside a sea arch. We visit a beautiful beach and the Tin Hau Temple of Leung Shuen Wan.

After paying homage to Tin Hau and assuring a safe second half of the day we have a good seafood lunch (not included, HK$120-150/person), and board a sampan to take us for a sightseeing tour, visiting a great sea arch, and visiting Sharp Island to check out the pineapple bun rocks and the tombolo (land bridge) there.

This is a group tour, minimum number for the tour to run is 4.

Your Insider

I am a Dutch national living in Hong Kong for over a decade. I have much experience roaming the great outdoors, and know many of the best places first hand. The more I walk around the countryside, the more I am hooked to the beauty, and the more little gems I uncover. I hope to share this experience with foreign visitors, giving them a much broader and deeper experience of Hong Kong. Over the past decade I have been hiking around the countryside almost every weekend and holiday. There are few places that I have not visited at least once, many routes are familiar to me. Being involved in the local hiking and geocaching community has also given me a lot of in depth background information on what is out there, including details about local history, folklore and geology.
