A 2,5-hour walk through the old city of Cluj means walking through 2000 years of history. Starting at the Roman ruins we find out about the importance of the trade for the city.
The birth house of Matthias Corvinus, Hungary's most important king in the 15th century, is our next stop
In the large Union Square we'll admire the classic gothic St. Michael's Church, built in the 14th-15th century. In front of the church we'll find the equestrian statue of the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus. Time to find out about the fate of the witches living in Cluj in the Middle Ages and the formation of the Guilds.
Walking further we arrive on the "street of the intellectuals", famous for its many educational institutions.
After admiring a part of the defense walls we'll see a newer part of the old city, namely the Avram Iancu Square. Here we see the Orthodox Cathedral, built in the 1930s, and the National Theater, built in 1906 by a team of Viennese architects.
Guide
I like to travel around the world. 5 years ago I set a target for myself: in 10 years I must visit more that 50 countries. Already visited 27 different countries till now. I work in travel industry since 2007 (in Romania, Greece and Cyprus): in hotels, like travel guide or like travel consultant. Last year I decided to be a national tour guide. I attended the classes at one certified school for tour guides and since june 2013 I have the professional license as well. I was born in Transylvania and I'm in love with this place on earth. I almost wait to show you some nice virgin places here in Carpathian Garden, or to go back in history with a guided city tour on the streets of the capital of Transylvania: city of Cluj.
