Vietnam is a family-oriented country--so whatever you do in Saigon can, in general, be done with family. Children, adults, and grandparents are perpetually out together enjoying the city during both the day and night.

Good for Kids

Saigon Heat game. American basketball culture has made it to Vietnam! The Saigon Heat, Vietnam's first professional basketball team, was established in 2012. The speakers are loud and the skills are, well, not quite NBA-level. But the crowds are spirited, the Saigon Hot Girls are shaking, and there is a lot of love in the gym.

Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens. The animals and fairgrounds at the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens are surprisingly well kept, despite what one might fear. The tree-lined paths provide nice shelter from the scorching sun. If the fairgrounds seem closed, just ask--sometimes the attendant will put down her cell phone and turn on the ride for you.

Thanh Da Island. Come to this island retreat in Binh Thanh to relax and fish. You catch what you eat, which is usually a lot because the pools are stocked (100,000 VND/hour).
