Local Favorites

Most travelers pass through Ben Thanh Market, which is in the heart of downtown Saigon. Fresh, expensive (but quality) fruit line the outside of the market, while the inside is chocked full of cheap tourist momentos. Be prepared to haggle!

Vintage & Flea Markets

The Saigon Flea Market is held on the second Sunday every month in the outdoor space beside the Boomarang Bistro (107 Ton Dat Tien, District 7). Goods include retro collectables, antiques, art, vintage clothes, handicrafts, and accessories.

Boutiques

For Audrey Hepburn-inspired women's fashion, try Lam's Boutique (71 Mac Thi Buoi St. and 76A Le Loi St. District 1). Nearby, the hippest men and women's fashion can be found at L'Usine (151/1 Dong Khoi and 70B Le Loi St., District 1).

Department Stores

The New Vincom Towers recently opened its doors (171 Dong Khoi & 116 Nguyen Hue, District 1), giving Saigon's mall scene a huge, upscale facelift. Come here for a modern mall experience, complete with fastfood chains (try Thai Express), mainstream Western brands like Converse, and luxury stores like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Ralph Lauren. But be prepared to shell out money--the import tax on high-end goods in Vietnam is high, so that Gucci tie will cost more than you expect.
