Food & Wine in Las Vegas
With franchises by pretty much every major chef in the country, Vegas has a food scene of a city ten times its size. But it's not all caviar buffets and three-star degustations of koala five ways. A lot of top sous chefs (the actual chefs behind most of those brand name chop houses) are now Vegas locals and have opened suburban restaurants of exceptional quality. If you've been looking for a chance to go "off Strip", this could be it.

What to Eat?
Eat everything! From buffets to million course degustations to some of the country's best taco trucks, Vegas has got it all. In suburban Vegas the Japanese food scene is hot hot hot at the moment.
Tipping
Vegas is a hospitality town. Tipping gets you everywhere - including into places you might not otherwise be able to get into.
Price per Meal
Anything goes - $5 to $1000
Best Restaurants
If you're going to do Vegas you've got to do a buffet. The best are at Bellagio, The Wynn and The Cosmopolitan. The quality is often extraordinary, although I find the Asian options disappointing. Celebrate a big win at Picasso's at Bellagio or Robuchon at MGM Grand - zillion dollar dining that actually lives up the hype. Off strip you have to try Lotus of Siam, probably the best Thai restaurant in America. For a suburban family experience, and the best Mexican seafood in the city, check out La Mojarra Loca: 821 N Lamb Blvd Ste 14, Las Vegas, NV 89110.
Best Cafes
Sambalatte is in sterile Summerlin but has a big range of boutique coffee. Nearby Patisserie Manon has excellent French breads, sandwiches and macroons. The Beat coffee house in Downtown is hipster central. The coffee is not as good as it imagines but if you want to find out about interesting local goings on, this is a one-stop shop.
