A terrific meal out and about with Esther. She took us to two local places where we were treated like old friends. We really didn't even have to order, they just brought out small samplings of many different plates all of which were delicious. Here's a scheduling tip. We went on the Old Rome walking tour with Esther followed by the food tour (2 separate tours but back-to-back) so we worked up a good appetite while learning about Rome and its people. The best part about the tours were learning about day-to-day life in Rome from Esther, a local. We highly recommend touring with Esther.

Esther was great. Filled with history and an ability to give you a real sense of the city, she was exactly what we were looking for. She took us to places we wouldn't have found on our own and she was very helpful in planning the rest of our day. Added bonus, we stopped in a small shop for one of the best food bites we had all trip. Thanks Esther!

Esther set up a great food and wine (and beer) tour for us that was unlike other tours available. My friend and I both left feeling we had gotten a nice chance to not only learn about the food culture of Rome, but also learn about many of the cultural nuances and quirks of the Romans. This made the tour special, more intimate, and very enjoyable and informative. Esther was very sweet throughout and might be the first person I've met who smiles more than I do! I would recommend this tour 100% if you want something a little different; it would be impossible to find the same experience in a tour guide book.

Esther is a charming, interesting guide. She took us to a great wine bar and then to a family run restaurant that's been around since 1931 where we sampled many excellent Roman dishes. We could have gone for gelato afterwards, but were too full to do so. If you are looking to experience a bit of Rome outside the touristy areas I highly recommend this tour.

This tour was a nice compliment to the official tours that we got at the various sites such as the Vatican and the Collesium. Esther was very knowledgeable and able to answer our questions about local everyday life. She also researched for us the location to buy ceramics and how to spend a day outside of Rome. She introduced us to some local food on the tour as well. She focused more on neighborhoods as well as beautiful churches. Our teenage children loved learning how to drink expertly out of the fountains located throughout Rome. We would highly recommend Esther to take you on a tour.

Oh my goodness, the food was SO GOOD that no review could do it justice. Esther is so sweet, fun, and helpful. She took us to a really great restaurant for appetizers and a glass of wine, then we went to a local osteria in her neighborhood. We were the only 'tourists' in the osteria; everyone else was clearly locals, which is always a good sign. The food was the best we had our entire week in Rome. ONE WORD OF ADVICE: Starve yourself for a couple of days before this tour. Do your very best to be STARVING. There is SO. MUCH. FOOD. that no normal human being can eat even half that much. I am normally a HUGE eater, but I had to stop eating halfway through the supper because we'd already had snacks all afternoon on our Jewish Ghetto Walking Tour with Esther. To be honest I was already full after our "Appetizer" outing, and before the Progressive Dinner even started (which consisted of bread, wine, about 5 appetizers, 2 heaping bowls of homemade pasta, a 'main course meat' dish, and then 5 desserts). I would recommend pacing yourself, as you eat, because you will be astonished at the sheer amount of food they bring out for you to taste and try. I wish I had been hungrier, but that's the only 'negative' of this tour. Totally worth every penny and I highly recommend. Thank you Esther!

Esther was an amazing tour guide and worth every penny. It felt like we were hanging out with a long-time friend. We had no problem at all understanding her English, and appreciated everything we learned (and tasted) along our Jewish Ghetto tour. I wish we could have hired her every day, to walk around Rome with us. She even waited for our bus with us in the pouring, freezing rain, at the end of the day, just to make sure we got on the right bus. Thank you Esther! Highly recommend.

Esther was so pleasant and enjoyable to be with, but she read most of the information she shared with us from a sheet of paper. To make this tour feel "authentic" and not something I could have done from a guidebook or the internet, Esther needs to become more familiar with her material and the area she is discussing.

This is a must do! We took this tour the first evening in Rome. Esther is amazing person that you feel so welcome. She introduced us to the area where we were staying by taking us on a walk around the area. She showed us where to eat, what to look for, how to use the public transportation system, a little history of our location and many other things. At the end of the tour, we felt so confident about what to do and how to do it! She is an invaluable resource and great host. This was the smartest thing we did to prepare for our stay in Rome. We also did the Offbeat Food Tour with Esther and WOW! It was the best tour we did. We love food and well just read our review of that tour.....you will not be disappointed. Thank you Esther! This was the best tour we had taken in Italy. It was also the best meal during our entire trip! Esther is like having a friend in Italy. She is amazing. She is so personable and very sweet....always smiling. We chose the Roman Food option and she coordinated an excellent appetizer place with drinks. Then on to the main event.....the restaurant in Monteverde was outstanding. The food kept coming. We tried so much variety and food it was wonderful. I now know the definition of gluttony :) The restaurant owners were very attentive to Esther/our party and went out of their way to make us feel like one of the regulars. I booked this tour to follow the Aventine Hill tour, and at the end of the day felt as if I had experienced the Rome of the people who live and work there. Esther introduced me to a wonderful place for "aperitivo" (the Italian custom of a drink and small bites of food before their later dinner) and then a lively restaurant in a less crowded but beautiful neighborhood of Rome across the Tiber. I will forever remember the people I met, and I would not have returned home with these memories without the expert help of Esther and her tour itinerary. She will customize the tour just for you. It was a dream working with her.

If you want to tour Rome like a local, make sure to walk around the beautiful city with a local. Esther graciously welcomed me to her city and showed me some of her favorite spots, all of which were less crowded than the usual tourist haunts. She is knowledgeable and also sincerely friendly. Aventine Hill tour does not disappoint. The hill holds some wonderful vistas of the city and the keyhole view, though small, will take your breath away. I found the churches cool and peaceful - a nice antidote to the teeming St. Peter's square. Well worth your time to explore.

Esther showed me things in the Monti district I never would have found on my own, even with guidebooks and the Internet. We went into many amazing and beautiful churches and I learned a lot from her. It was a delightful afternoon with a knowledgeable native Roman showing me around. Also, Esther gave me great advice on what to do before and after my tour, including a great place to eat. I am definitely doing another tour with Esther when I visit Rome again.

This was an interesting, edifying, and fun tour. Esther is lovely and down-to-earth. She is actually a tour leader in most of Italy and has extensive experience with tours and what tourists enjoy. She knows so much about Rome and its arts & history! I should have known better to have done this on my first day in Rome, because I could have eaten better (She told me where the best cheap eats, gelato, etc. were)!

Esther introduced us to some treasures hidden within the busy city of Rome! We loved going to the Jewish ghetto and walking to hidden churches that held such splendor and history. I wouldn't trade in our time with Esther for anything! She was wonderful and we loved her!
