Tour the Rooftop Gardens

with Marilyn S.

2 reviews

Rooftop gardens open to the public? Waterfalls in Downtown San Francisco? Yes, to both! 1% of the funds spent on any private building in San Francisco must go toward public spaces. Sometimes this is an art exhibit in the lobby BUT sometimes it’s a waterfall (10 along our route) or a rooftop garden (with a great view). Many are unknown to the general public. Join your guide, “On The Level” Marilyn Straka, for a mile-long walking tour of downtown San Francisco to see these hidden treasures.

2.5 hour walking tour of San Francisco's rooftop gardens and waterfalls. For more than four people, it's $25 a person. Please message for large parties.

All routes are accessible for walkers and wheelchairs with no hills or steps. Her award winning walks have claimed national media attention. While her walks appeal to people with a variety of interests and abilities (including a new offering of stairway walks!), her immediate goal is to make older adults and the disabled community aware of her walks. Marilyn will delight you with her seemingly endless knowledge of San Francisco's rooftop gardens and the rich history of downtown high rise buidings. I was in a group of 4 and we walked just under 2 miles over about 2.5 hours. It was a lot of fun and I would recommend it to tourists and locals.

The tour was a great way to see the city from another perspective. As a native San Franciscan, I've passed by these buildings my whole life without even realizing they had gardens on the roof! Marilyn also knew great historical facts about the city and had great little stories that made me look at downtown in a completely different way. She's a very pleasant guide and knows her stuff!
