Sintra Wild Side - Santa Eufémia

Near Sintra, some 30 kms from Lisbon
Our journey starts near the western gate of Parque da Pena and close to the main entrance to Quinta Valle Flor, previously known as Quinta Miramar.
There is an old legend to be told along this walk, the Santa Eufemia legend, and the story of a portuguese queen on escape to Brasil, hidden in one of the cottages bordering the road. Opportunity also for a glimpse to the entry of a small cavern once inhabited, this after performing a pass nearby High Cross / Cruz Alta, the highest point of Sintra mountain.
Afterwards we'll arrive at Santa Eufemia chapel and a nearby belvedere with a stunning view. Circling the steep hill we pass along the luxurious green of Inhaca Park and start our return to the departure point near Valle Flor Farm.
The journey is about 5 kms long, offers a medium/high difficulty on some steep, sandy and rocky segments, and takes 4 hours.

High view from Sintra to Tagus Valley, the very place where Sintra was born more than one thousand years ago. We'll roll on a ground once moorish that was taken by the christians im 1143.
Sintra is a 'mountain of the Moon'. Called Xentra by the moors, Cynthia by the Celts. A mystic gate for an inner world accordingly to some legends.
