Tasty Food at OSMICE

Osmice, which were once visited only by men from the village and people from surrounding areas, are now becoming a true sociable event for young and old, women and men, children and teenagers. Osmice, the two-houndred-year-old tradition, take place in the fall and spring. Wine-growing farmers are allowed eight days a year when they can sell their surplus wine without paying tax. That way they prepare wine barrels for the new harvest. Wine is sold in bulk in the room where it is kept, usually in the basement. Later on wine-growing farmers have expanded their offers. Beside wine you can also taste home dried meat products (ham, sausage, roast, salami), sausages with cabbage or turnip, home-baked bread, potica cake, štruklji dumplings, stews and home-made alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Along the roads, at the crossroads and at the doors of osmice you can recognize bouquets of ivy or fraska – the symbol of osmica. The key element of osmice are local products. Come with us!
