Come spend a fun morning (or an afternoon) sampling some of Vientiane's best coffee!
Laos' Bolaven Plateau produces some of the world's finest Arabica coffee beans, although very little gets exported to the Western world. Several artisan cafe owners in Vientiane roast their own beans, and in-the-know locals flock to these spots when they need a hit of caffeine. Bypass the usual tourist restaurants and come experience a sampling of Lao coffee (three ways!) while learning more about the history of this crop in Laos.
We will visit three different cafes in and around downtown Vientiane, sampling their particular specialty (coffee-coconut frappe, latte, etc.) One coffee per person is included at each stop (there are non-caffeinated options like fruit shakes available if you need to limit your caffeine!). We'll also stop for a quick look inside one of the city's busiest and most sacred temples.
The tour will take around 2-2.5 hours in total, depending on how long we linger at each cafe. Total walking time will be about 45 minutes, at a leisurely pace. We can also go by bicycle if you prefer - details to be arranged upon booking.
Minimum number of people is 2, however I can accommodate 1 person - please contact me directly for price.
I am an American who has been living and working throughout Asia since 2006. My journey started with a love of languages when I was in school, which led to studying Chinese in college, including stints studying abroad in Beijing & Hangzhou. I loved it so much that I eventually moved to Beijing to work in 2006. A year and a half later, I relocated to Ho Chi Minh City, where I was based as a tour leader for an Australian travel company. I led trips all over Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and China and was lucky enough to see many beautiful places! These days I am based in Vientiane, Laos, where I have been for about 3 years. I have worked extensively in the tourism industry throughout Asia, and currently am engaged in a mix of freelance work, travel writing, and helping out with some humanitarian development projects. Come visit and I'll be happy to tell you more! I want to do whatever I can to help you fall in love with the part of the world that I have made my adopted home. Please feel free to contact me with your interests/requests and I would be delighted to customize something for you. Full profile ⋅ Leave a Review
