This is a day tour with a difference - come experience Vientiane and familiarize yourself with some of the charitable organizations and social entrepreneurs doing inspiring work in Laos.
Learn more about the impact that unexploded ordinance leftover from the Indochina War years has had on this country and what an inspiring organization is doing to help survivors of UXO accidents. Next, help support the meaningful employment of some of Vientiane's disadvantaged peoples. The lack of a social support system means many are left struggling to survive, especially if their family members cannot financially support them. We will get a "blind massage" in the traditional Lao style, followed by lunch at a restaurant that helps get young children off the street and trains them in hospitality skills. Along the way, I'll point out several different, fair-trade certified shops where you can purchase souvenirs that help further support some wonderful non-profit organizations.
Finally, you'll have the chance for a Q&A; session with the founder of a small social enterprise in Vientiane which helps provide clean drinking water in remote Lao villages.
Included: Tuk-tuk transportation around town, 60-min massage, lunch, Q&A; session (approximately 20 minutes) with a Vientiane-based social entrepreneur, & lots of good karma!

I am an American who has been living and working throughout Asia since 2006. My journey started with a love of languages when I was in school, which led to studying Chinese in college, including stints studying abroad in Beijing & Hangzhou. I loved it so much that I eventually moved to Beijing to work in 2006. A year and a half later, I relocated to Ho Chi Minh City, where I was based as a tour leader for an Australian travel company. I led trips all over Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and China and was lucky enough to see many beautiful places! These days I am based in Vientiane, Laos, where I have been for about 3 years. I have worked extensively in the tourism industry throughout Asia, and currently am engaged in a mix of freelance work, travel writing, and helping out with some humanitarian development projects. Come visit and I'll be happy to tell you more! I want to do whatever I can to help you fall in love with the part of the world that I have made my adopted home. Please feel free to contact me with your interests/requests and I would be delighted to customize something for you. Full profile ⋅ Leave a Review
