Take an insider’s safari around Vientiane.
First off we’ll take you for one of our favourite sweet snacks kao larm (sticky rice and coconut snack roasted in bamboo tubes). You’ll learn to make this treat with one of the most famous kao larm cooks in Laos and of course get to sample some too! Then you’ll visit a local fresh food market to check out the amazing diversity of Lao food.
For lunch, get behind the scenes in the kitchen of a popular local restaurant that provides training for street youth, and then relax and enjoy the delicious Lao lunch you have seen being prepared.
In the afternoon you will visit the workshop of a family-run silversmith producing intricate traditional and modern pieces. Then it’s time to go to temple where you’ll learn to make mak beng and pasaat peung, traditional Lao Buddhist banana leaf and wax flower offerings to take to Wat Simueang, one of the city’s most popular local temples.
