Outdoors & Adventure in Oslo

Hiking

Take the subway to either Frognerseteren (North) or Skullerud (East) and take it from there. There are comfortable shorter and longer hikes. Turistforeningen can assist with maps and suggestions.

Walking Routes

From Skullerud, you can follow the red signs in winter, blue signs in summer, to Rustadsaga, a wonderful little cabin with food and drinks. For a longer hike, go to Mariholtet. You can also take the subway to Frognerseteren and explore Nordmarka. Or walk up/down Akerselva in the center of Oslo, you´ll forget you are in a city, until you stumble upon a few bars close to Grunerløkka.

Running

Run in any park, up Akerselva or along the highway and out to the peninsula of Bygdøy.

Swimming

The public bath Tøyenbadet offers inside and outside pools.

Gyms

There are several gym chains around, the most popular being SATS and the more pricy Elixia.

Biking

Check vikingbikingoslo.com, where the guides will show you around town in almost any language. You can also rent bikes and go off by yourself, or get a one-day pass for the bike-share program.

Parks

Vigelandsparken is the most beautiful one, but Sofienbergparken har more people and more fun in the summer. You could also read Dostojevski in the little park at Kampen with the charming name "The Idiot"
