Mutianyu Great Wall&Summer Palace Tour

Mutianyu Great Wall winds 1.4 miles through lofty mountains and high ridges, many sections of which are made of granite. The unique structure makes the wall almost indestructible. It measures 23 to 26 feet high and four to five yards wide. Both of the wall's inner and outer sides have parapets to defend against enemies coming from the two sides. Some parapets are saw- tooth shaped instead of the regular rectangular form. Below the parapets, there are square embrasures the top of which are designed in an arc structure, different from the traditional round embrasures.
Situated in the Haidian District northwest of Beijing City, the Summer Palace is 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from central Beijing. Being the largest and most well-preserved royal park in China, it greatly influences Chinese horticulture and landscape with its famous natural views and cultural interests, which also has long since been recognized as 'The Museum of Royal Gardens'.

Pick up at 7:30am and proceed to visit Mutianyu Great Wall. Mutianyu Great Wall is the most beautiful section of the all 5 sections of the Great Wall in Beijing. The hike takes about 2-3 hours. It has an extremely beautiful natural landscape once you are up on the wall, green, densely wooded. This section of the Great Wall is comparatively smoother than most of other sections.
After lunch, move on to Summer Palace, the largest former royal garden, a temporary dwelling palace for emperors of Qing Dynasty and Its predecessor was the Garden of Clear Ripples (Qingyiyuan) started in 1750 and burned down by the British and French allied troops in 1860. In 1886, Empress Dowager Cixi misappropriated the Navy budget and other funds to reconstruction and renamed the park as Summer Palace in 1888. Return to your hotel around 6:00pm.
