Juyongguan Great Wall & Yeyahu Lake

with David

As an old Chinese saying goes, " If one man guards the pass, then thousand are unable to get through". Juyongguan Great Wall is an important strategic gateway leading to Inner Mongolia. The slopes on both sides of this narrow pass are carpeted by a dense growth of foliage. The Juyongguan Pass used to be one of the eight famous scenic spots in Beijing. After years of renovation, the Juyongguan Great Wall was open to public in 1998.
Yeyahu (Wild Duck Lake) is a flat steppe-like area of mostly grassland with a reservoir, a small reedbed, an area of shrubs and a few trees, nestled between two sets of mountains to the north and south. It is often windy here and the mountains act as a sort of wind tunnel. Yeyahu Lake has recorded 264 bird species, with more than 20,000 water birds passing through this territory in spring and autumn each year, according to the survey.
