Birthday on Greatwall

with David

Mutianyu Great Wall, is one of the most famous and best preserved sections of the Great Wall together with Badaling and Jinshanling sections. Located in the northeast of Beijing Municipality, Mutianyu is connected with the smaller hotspot sections of Jiankou in the west and Lianhuachi in the east. This section used to serve as the northern wall defending the capital city and the Imperial power, like a giant galloping dragon on mountain peak preserving the entrance to emperors' kingdom.

Eight exclusive getaways hidden in real mountain villages, each with private garden and spectacular Great Wall views, make the Schoolhouse Homes a unique year-round resort that was featured in Architectural Digest.

Pick up from your hotel lobby at around at 8:00am. Get to the Mutianyu Great Wall around 9:30am. The Mutianyu Great Wall is known for its beautiful surroundings - dense woods and rich pastures changing colors with the seasons of the year.

After 2-3 hours hiking, head to the Schoolhouse by the Mutianyu Great Wall for a romantic lunch. The Schoolhouse was once a abandoned elementary school in the Great Wall Village. Now it has been turned into park-like campus. Its canteen offers foods using the fresh local ingredients and made in their own sanitary kitchen. The Schoolhouse canteen's regular menu is focused on light Italian food with homemade ice cream, sorbets and chocolates.

After lunch, you may learn the art of glass making and watch the glassblowers in action in the courtyard. You will be amazed by the rich various of the glass exhibits in their art room. After the wonderful time in the Schoolhouse, you are transferred back to your hotel in Beijing around 5:30pm.
