Village and Pearl Lake Day Trip

Chuandixia village is an ancient and well-preserved mountain village filled with many historical relics and an architecture of outstanding beauty. However, part of the village was seriously damaged during the Japanese Occupation(1937-1945) and the Cultural Revolution(1966-1976), leaving parts of the village in ruins even today.

Lies in the deep valley of Taihang Mountain ranges, the Pearl Lake Scenic Spot boasts beautiful natural landscape. The famous first railway arch bridge in Asia, which like a rainbow spans the lake, has become a unique view in the scenic spot. In the upper reaches of the lake, there is an islet called Apricot Village which forms another unique view in the Pearl Lake. Every spring, hundreds of apricot trees are in full blossom. And the astonishing view has attracted many visitors. Besides, the Pearl Lake also has many amusement activities and comfort amenities. Visitors will surely enjoy themselves there.

Pick up at 8:00 am at your hotel and take private car for Chuandixia Village. The village about 90km west of Beijing city center. It is well known for its well preserved over 600 Ming and Qing dynasty-style houses housed by 70 families. These houses are contructed on the side of a hill, surrounded by mountains and forests. To see these old houses, you have to climb the steep stairs and lanes paved with rocks which are simple and unadorned.

After lunch at a local farmhouse, you head back to Pearl Lake,about 60km west of downtown Beijing. It is a reservoir turned Lake named "Pearl Lake" for the large quantities of oysters in its waters. Sandwiched in the middle section of Guanting Gorge, this typical high-water lake has the sea-level of 400 meters. Occupying an area of over 8,500 hectares, this pleasant area is teemed with beautiful lakes and magnificent mountains. The most famous railway arch bridge in Asia is extended across the lake, offering an extraordinary sight.

After this nostalgic and romantic day trip, you are transferred back to your hotel in Beijing about 6:00pm.
