Tiananmen Square:
Tiananmen Square is the largest public square in the world and already attracts lot of local people and tourists to come explore the square. With a total area of 440,000 square meters, the square in total can hold one million people at the same time. Tiananmen Square was used to be the forbidden area in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Forbidden City:
The Forbidden City was the imperial residence and center of the kingdom during the reign of 24 emperors. 14 in the Ming and 10 in the Qing dynasty resided and ruled from this palace for 491 years until Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing dynasty and of China. It is now the largest and best preserved ancient architecture in China.
Pick up from your hotel lobby at around 9:00am. First visit Tiananmen Square(40 minutes). Then move on to the Imperial Palace, also known as the Forbidden City(2 hours), the largest and best preserved ancient imperial palaces group with 500 years history. The palace was built between 1406 and 1420, but was burnt down, rebuilt, sacked and renovated countless times, so most of the architecture you can see today dates from the 1700's and onwards.
Lunch at a special characteristic restaurant.
Then enjoy a slow walk to shichahai hutong area(1hour). take rickshaw for sightseeing of inner hutong(40minutes), finally transfer to Beihai Park for sightseeing(1hour).
Transfer back to your hotel.
