Create a Sculpture in a Day

with Dale W.

Video Verified

Learn sculpture in the private studio of one of Austin's best known public artists. My work has been seen in tons of places throughout Austin.

Until now, sculpting with expanded polystyrene foam (styrofoam) has been reserved for theatre and movie industry. I have been using it commercially for thirty years and feel it's the ideal substance for teaching sculpting.

Inexpensive, light weight, and easy to carve even with the bare hand, styrofoam is a friendly substance, however messy the process! Foam can be worked with many different tools, and will yield a surprising degree of detail with fine sanding.

I will provide a block of foam friendly instruction and tools, you will provide the creativity, producing a finished sculpture in just two hours!

An Austin resident for thirty years, I have been a vital part of the public art scene. I am passionate about art and its effect upon our culture. Austin has long been recognized for its creative and relaxed atmosphere which has been shaped by its public art and vice versa. I'm happy to be Austin's art ambassador! I have a studio in East Austin where I teach and fabricate art. While my working studio is not fully open to the public, I'm happy to teach a few students occasionally. Full profile Leave a Review
