The city of Rio de Janeiro was the main scenario of the most important political events in Brazil, this tour in Downtown takes us back to the times when Rio was the capital of the country. The historical center is rich in cultural attractions, architecture of many different schools, churches, public buildings and squares, brazilian history was written in this region.The tour begins at Cinelândia, in a square where we have several attractions such as the Municipal Theater, National Museum of Fine Arts, National Library, Pedro Ernesto´s Palace (House of Aldermen), among others. We will keep riding in main downtown avenues such as Beira Mar and Primeiro de Março, on the way we will pass by the Palace of Justice, The Imperial Path, XV Square, Tiradente´s Palace (House of Deputies) and many churches built on the 18th century, we will stop for pictures and explanations along the way.

Itinerary

We will reach Candelária Church, right on the meeting of Rio de Janeiro´s main avenues (Rio Branco and Presidente Vargas), the financial center of the city. The tour goes on, and on the way we will pass by Tiradentes Square, The Presbyterean Cathedral (the only church built in gothic style) and Carioca Street (with it´s characteristic colonial houses). After that we reach Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Cathedral. Not so far we have Lapa, traditional bohemian corner of Rio, illustrated by it´s famous archeduct, and visiting the amazing Selarón Stairways, a declaration of love to Rio built by a Chilean artist. We will return, passing by the Public Path (first leisure area built in Rio), to Cinelandia, the starting and ending point of our tour.

P.S: This tour is only available at weekends and holidays, due light car traffic in Downtown!
